SIXTH U.S. PATENT AWARDED TO SRU BIOSYSTEMS
Broad Methods and Compositions for Optical Detection; Use of Labels is Not Required
Woburn, Massachusetts, September 12, 2006 -- SRU Biosystems, Inc. (“SRU” or “the Company”)
announced today that U.S. Patent 7,094,595 (“the ‘595 patent”), entitled “Label-Free High-Throughput
Optical Technique for Detecting Biomolecular Interactions” was issued to SRU Biosystems on
August 22, 2006.
“The ‘595 patent extends a string of foundational patents issued to SRU over the past
several months,” stated Owen Dempsey, CEO of SRU Biosystems. “We believe this once
again demonstrates the broad and foundational nature of BIND™. It extends and solidifies
the strong, intellectual property position of SRU in optical, label-free detection.”
SRU’s growing intellectual property portfolio encompasses all aspects of the Company’s
BIND™ system, which the Company believes sets the standards in label-free detection.
Mr. Dempsey continued, “We want to concentrate on commercializing our BIND™ Biosensor
product line. From proteins to small molecules and cells; from plate-based screening to
microarray applications, BIND™ is an exciting tool for the future of drug discovery.”
About SRU Biosystems
